Hey guys I was pulling into work today and a mate noticed that when I put my brakes on my parking lights would come on, also my reverse lights have stopped coming on and I think it's been since I got the new gear box, any ideas? And would it be cheap if I got a sparky to do it, cheers

Ok thanks guys, my batteries earth wire wasn't firmly in, and for my reverse lights, I only just got a new gear box and the people at the commodore wreckers didn't set it up properly with the shifter, it's hard to explain but it was an easy fix, thanks everyone!

dityo for what mec says...
if your reversing switch fails (like mine did on my manual gearbox)
dont pay full price at repco or holden ect..

ring a transmistion place..
instead of paying $180 for t5 gearbox reversing switch .. i payed $20

For your reverse lights check the switch on the gearbox first. Ít's your most likely cause. As for your brake and tail lights, the first thing is to check every earth and every connection around the brake and tail lights. Is there rust in the sockets/earth leads? Are any of the connectors loose? Are they full of water? That last one is often why this happens in the first place. Go through all of these, spray all the bulb sockets with contact cleaner, and if you still can't find it, call an auto sparky. Any good auto electrician should be able to find this one within an hour. Ask him his hourly rate, add GST then allow $20 for parts and you should have a rough idea of what it would cost to have an auto electrician do it for you

Yeah,i remember this problem posted on another Forum a few years ago.,Google will probaly find it.IIRC it was an earth fault combined with a bad bulb.
