hi all i have now got my wagon back on the road however it has a few little problems with it my main one in this time of year is the fan i have tried all different things and the only thing that seems to work is running a wire from the fuse pannel to the the fan but it works at full force.
it has got me beat as i have tried most things is there anything im not trying? i have been told resistor goes easy on them but it looks good and im sure i tried a different one in there

ok it sounds to be wire problem on power side from wat u have told me i will check it wen i can pull it apart
i have tried a different switch on it be so maybe wire

There may be modern versions of that particular relay with a plstic case. If that particular relay was in the wrong spot, your demister and engine fan would not work at all. I personally think the problem has got to do with the wiring around the fan. Check the wiring from the fuse, to the switch, to the fan itself. Something within that circuit (possibly the switch itself) has failed |

rear demister was working even though the climate fan was not it is only recently that the rear has stopped all i know is if i run a wire from under the steering wheel to the power of the fan it works which would suggest good earth the resistor things are all intact wen they were checked.
i will have to check if there is the metal one there but i think only the fog has the metal relay |

If you know for sure the fan resistor module is fine, check the fan itself. The fan itself has a 4 pin connector hanging off it. If it took all of its power input from a simple circuit, it should need ony two pins, or even one if it has a good earth. Check both the connector and the fan, and see what you come up with.
The modern fan resistor module is a solid state unit, doing away with the often unreliable filament wires. The older ones you can tell straight away if they're blown because they would be broken, just like the filament in a light bulb.
There's another one. Are your rear demister and engine fan working? If they aren't then your problem is a metal relay under the fuse box lid marked "LP CHECK." If someone has swapped out this realy for one of the more conventional plastic ones, the previously mentioned components won't work either. I found out this the hard way, and it took and auto sparky to find it. |
