Posted - 14 Jun 2012 : 8:47:44 PM im not sure if this is true or not but someone had once told me that there is some boxes out there that have different gearing. i had my last box do 2500 - 3000 at 110 the one i have in now does the same but wen it gets to 110 it drops about 500rpm sort of like a overdrive.
also while im on this subject could anyone tell me the meaning on the different numbers on the sides of the box |

Posted - 14 Jun 2012 : 10:01:13 PM in my commodore book mate i cant find what the letter a is for but i know the MD8 stands for auto and the 4 is the amount of gears it has, on the top of the pan there will be a id for it as you can see in this pic, compare the two numbers you get off both gearbox's and let us know the numbers

Posted - 14 Jun 2012 : 9:15:41 PM as far as i know they didnt come out with different gearing, as for the numbers on the side of it im guessing your talking about the 4L60 if so that means 4=number of gears L=longitudinal applications (rear-wheel-drive) 60=relates to the weight rating "60" standing for 6000 lbs
if you want mate take a read of this as it might help you out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turbo-Hydramatic#700R4_.2F_4L60_.2F_4L60E_.2F_4L65E
