Hi I'm wondering what is the little black rectangle box called on the right and side of the vn commodore firewall like when your standing in frount of the engine the black little box above everything that takes two Phillips head screws? that takes a green plug.

& what would happen if a vn throttle body sensor is dead or just about dead? Thanks.

So did you end up checking codes??

Hi I'm back again still having problems with the vn,

I will try to keep this breiff and short as possible...

I was driving my vn to my dads and the car stalls going around the round about and I try to start it aka. Ad t doesn't want to start so I put it to the side of the road and get it towed t m dads and we found out that the fuel pump has died so we changed the. Ternal and outside pump meaning It has a two fuel pump system.. And changed the filters and everything lines cleaned and we started to have ideal problems so I cleaned out the throttle body and sensors etc and they are fine so what I did was I was p,acting around with the map sensor and stared the car and pulled the hose off and it was revving like normal and idle perfect obvously having black s kes as a map sensor equates how much air and fuel but it was revving extremely well and I get another map senso and change it over and yet again the car is still running **** like before with another map sensor!!

So all I can think about is that it must have s thing to do with the ECU but yet I'm brained washed as the fuel pup dies now the hole car won't operate properly but the car was perfect 5 mins before the fuel pump died ,,..,...?

So I'm asking would a fuel pump failed make a ecu miss read as well as trying to start It when it died? I have being trying to work out the problem for a nth now and still nothing and I haven't got the money to get a mechanic to check it....

Thanks John.

How did you go with the codes??
VNSVLE Posted - 11 Nov 2012 : 11:48:56 AM
You can check your codes without a special reader. Have a look here for how to - http://www.vncommodore.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=450

I also don't have a auto scanner so I don't get any codes other then the check engine light
Bj011 Posted - 10 Nov 2012 : 1:37:46 PM
The car keeps reving up and down like hunting I got new fuel pump filters everything so was wondering if it has something to do with the IAC or MAP
VNSVLE Posted - 10 Nov 2012 : 11:17:52 AM
If the IAC was not working your car would not idle properly.
What issues have you got buddy??
Have you got any codes up??
If either of these are not working you will have a code up.
Bj011 Posted - 09 Nov 2012 : 4:08:38 PM
Yeah that it thanks mate, if the MAP was not working how could I tell ?
And yes the air control valve how would the car react if not working?
VNSVLE Posted - 09 Nov 2012 : 2:51:01 PM
Would this be what you are refering to - http://www.justcomm.com.au/images/detail/VNPRS-MAP.jpg
If so it a a MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor.
By throttle body sensor do you mean the IAC (idle air control) valve??
