Posted - 04 Sep 2011 : 12:46:36 AM I need to replace my dash lights and gear stick lights (automatic) and I'm not sure where to start invading lol. Any help would be much appreciated
Also I want to change the lights to LED in the roof and rear window light, but I'm having trouble getting the cover's off. Any hint or just keep trying? |

The dash cluster is held in with a few screws. Remove the dash surround first (Part holding the Switch block's) disconnect those switch plugs. undo the screw's holding the dash cluster and lift out towards you and carefully over the steering wheel. There are 3 large plugs at the rear on all model's (not held in by a locking connector) and remove themselves with a pull on the cluster and are pushed back on on a Calais or Statesman (with trip computer) there is one more at the base of the dash (Bottom Right side)that need's to be unplugged
The roof light lens is clipped in and requires a gentle pinch with fingers and an open hand then it will nearly fall out. The rear Calais style courtesy light's are tricky and break easy , I lever them out with a flat blade screw driver and about half the time break. There are tabs holding them in from the back of the roof lining.
With the Auto light it is a single bulb held in beneath the Selector panel Remove the front part of the center console by levering it up and out (No screws) near the Hand brake. Under the shift indicator is the globe.
Great to see another VN being modded and appreciated. Cheers |
