Posted - 28 May 2012 : 7:06:24 PM Hi guys, i bought a V6 auto Vn about a year ago in preperation for when i finally got my licence back, it was running perfectly fine when i bought it. i had it parked at a mates for around 8 months, just before i got my license i went to pick it up, i had to jump start as expected, i moved it out the front to wash the months worth of leaves that had fallen on it, but when i went to start it again(yes i tried jumpstarting it again) it just made a click sound when i turn the key, the stereo lights would die , it wouldnt kick over or anything,at first i thought it could of been the battery, but after replacing that it still did the exact same thing. im now thinking its the starter motor, does anybody have any theories? after getting under and realising where the starter motor is and how seized the nuts are i dont want to waste time and money replacing the starter if its not the cause of the problem. id greatly appreciate any advice or opinions |

Posted - 28 May 2012 : 8:34:37 PM Sounds like the solenoid might be sticking. Give the starter a tap with a hammer while you have someone trying to crank it. It may take a bit of of tap or a few taps just make sure when the other person is turning the key they hold it on until it (a) either starts or (b) you give up. Try not to hold it on to long though. It should not take to long if it is going to work Give that a go and let us know the outcome. Cheers |
