I don't think a new sub is going to do much for you to be honest. JBL is a pretty good brand. I would mount it centrally behind the rear seat facing towards the back of the car though. I did this with my sub & it made a heap of difference. I'd spend the money a a better quality amp. Boss amps are pretty much rubbish IME & from what I've read of other peoples experiences. I'd spend some $$ on a Pioneer or Clarion 4ch amp.

What kind of HU do you have & what are the other speakers running in the car? That's usually where your biggest gains will be made.

I'm willing to spend up to 300-400, and i want it looking pretty fancy, so yes, a fair bit of work. and this is my set up right now.. http://www.vncommodore.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2721

I was thinking first step i should recarpet all the floor and side panels with proper car carpet, but don't know what bass system to get

First question how much are you wanting to spend??
Second how much work do you want to do??
Third what other audio gear have you got installed??
