NOT HAPPY! I took a look at my parcel shelf earlier today while working on the speakers, previous owners said it was completely legally installed.
IT ISN'T!
The parcel shelf has been cut out of, looks like a basic homemade job and it is definitely not legal. Is there any way of 'reinforcing' the holes cut to legal standards without replacing the entire parcel shelf?
So ticked off atm, I really don't want to replace the parcel shelf. Cheers for any info given.

is it that obvious?? because you could just leave it as is...
otherwise you are going to need to talk to someone who knows the legal standards and has a welder... im guessing they wasted time with 6*9s and didnt really think of just putting in good 6" splits... |

Yeah, its kinda obvious, and he cut the metal as well..... I had never taken a look at it before, and Benche, crying..........wtf. I needa get my car past pits for insurance.......so its gonna get noticed unless I get someone really good who doesn't care, but thats like 1/100000.
It def was a homemade job, they screwed up the dash putting the tweeters in, cut holes in the doors (no pods) cut the parcel shelf, and GLUED!!! the kenwood deck in there, had to take entire thing apart to get it out with some glue solvent.....****load of work just all cause someone couldnt be bothered learning how, or paying $100 to get someone to do it. |

I think at least half the VN's goin round have the metal cut out to fit 6*9's coz simply they can be cheap and give good sound. And as said unless the cops are searchin for it they wont see it. As for passing pits, well there are ways to hide it, if u no how to use a welder and grinder you could do it. Or you could put a custom boot in so you hide it from bottom as well as tops coz no one i no ever had there parcel shelp taken out to pass pits. Its up 2 u, everything is fixable with replacement parts and money, but if it doesnt affect safety and u cant see it why bother. |

Have you got pics of the damage? I think you should be right for rego- I doubt they will look at too much other than handbrake and seatbelts in too much detail (steering wheel and white guages if you've got them too...).
If you've got pics we might be able to offer better advice... I personally wouldn't be grinding or welding anything until it is picked up a problem. |

the wood and carpet doesnt matter just the speakers have to be solid not sitting there loose . the metal is the problem but i realy dont think you will have any problems with it |

I can put some pics up when I get my car and my camera in the same spot lol.
As for hiding it, its not gonna work, my car is on gas and the parcel shelf holes is right above the gas tank, they needa check the gas tank to make sure its ok. As soon as I get the camera I'll put some up. |
