i found more codes on the net, havent tested what is wrong with mine yet but it only runs till you put your foot on the accelerator and then dies, got the engine warning light on most of the time but it comes and goes, did a 500km trip with no problems but since it hasnt run for more than 5 mins, usual time before it dies is between 30 seconds or untill you give it some juice. im sure there are all covered here but this may contain more usefully information also contains a program for your laptop (if anyone knows what the cable you need for between the ecu and laptop is called please let me know as im interested in getting one)

Just got error 33, come back and read the problem.. went to the car and pulled out the map sensor plug, wiggled the wires.. plugged it back in.. turned the key and BAM!! no engine warning light!!
revs like normal again without dying and i can run it for as long as i like.. im glad i didnt take it to the mechanic and have them sting me a few hundred for something simple like that!

ALDL cable mate... you can buy them online or off ebay. The cheapest I have seen is around the $50 mark.
If you've got half and idea you could probably make your own- the instructions how are also online. |

Just did another test, still error 33, went and asked holden how much for a new map sensor and its 73 bucks. went to the wreckers and picked one up for 20 bucks. put it in, pulled out the engine fuses, waited, put them back in turn the key and all was good for about 5 mins, then i get the waring light again and it dies a few seconds after start up as it did before. I found a aldl cable on ebay that im bidding for but if it just tells me map sensor error i dont know how that is going to help..
anyone have ideas about the manifold air pressure? maybe a leaky gasket or something else ive overlooked and maybe the original map sensor was not faulty? any ideas or help would be great, thanks |

| Compression test would probably be the quickest and easiest way to check the head gaskets |

| ok i just had a thought, error 33 is cos the air pressure is too high, 34 is the air pressure is too low, if it had a blown head gasket that would make me think that i would get error 34 instead of error 33, sound right? so for some reason there is too much air pressure in there |

Sorry split topic. Felt we were not using how to section as we should. Now a blown head gasket should not cause problems with manifold pressures. I would be replacing the tube from the map sensor to the manifold if you have not already. If that does not work do a compression test. Not likely but a burnt out inlet valve would cause high manifold pressures. By the sounds of it you do not have a manual. I would be going out tomorrow and buying one for starters. You will find it to have everything you will ever need. I would go for either gregory's or haynes. Now for our problem. If you dont have a multimeter see if you can borrow one and proceed with the following test(you can get a cheap effective multimeter from autobarn/supercheap equivalent) - Now do this carefully and if you can get a set of "spoon" probes for the multimeter or get a single strand of wire from a piece of automotive electrical wire and wrap it around the end of your multimeter probe. Now back probe(insert probe into the back of the plug DO NOT POKE A HOLE IN THE INSULATION UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE) ECM terminal C11 (the light green wire) to earth with the multimeter set on volts. - If the reading is less than 1 volt you have a faulty ECM. - If the reading is more than 1 volt that light green wire circuit is faulty and you need to either replace that light green wire or find the fault and repair.
Let me know if any of this does not make sense and i will try and simplify it for you.
Good Luck!! |

borrow multimeter, put spoon probe in light green wire ECM connection (positive right?) then run negative to body/screw?
more than 1 volt replace ECM less than 1 volt replace wire
sorry im not real good with electronics but im trying to learn real quick, is that the same as you described? |

pretty much but you got the diagnoses round about. Less than 1 ecm more than one replace wire |
