BUT i have finally replaced me suspension and sump gasket ...i know what you are all gonna say ....FINALLY..... haha but no more oil leaks from sump YAY only water and a little oil from inletmanifold gasket which i brought today and may be replaceing on weekend. Other then that me car is still alright fro its age
so far replaced timing chain and tensioner sump gasket (fun but droped crossmember as all suspension was out anyway) all suspension except springs front brake disks and bendex untimate pads all round (it now wants to stop haha) rocker cover gaskets and soon inlet manifold gasket (then it will be a NON leaking vn which is weired lol) OH and i got me mags on (vt s pack 16 inch.....crap yeh i know. but ay better then the 14 inch stockies)
now alls i gotta do is replace the rear wheel bearings and unis plus the center bearing (which has been sitting in a box for the last 4 months lol) IM getting there
anyway just thorght id say whats been happening my end hopw you all have been good lol
think there is more i did but yeh lol will think of it and post
How hard was dropping the sump? I'm still tossing up whether to drop mine and replace it with a High Energy unit but $$$ dried up a little so it's up in the air.
If it is an absolute prick of a job I probably won't bother...
well the way i did it had a bit of mucking around but i had all suspesnion out in the front anyway ...
first was removeing the supension (struts etc.. then i used a long metal bar (small axel) and placed it across the strut towers (make sure you sercure it otherwise it could be messy) then lossen engin mounts and support engin buy chain with metal bar (i lifted engin up with a jack then suported with chain) then drop crossmember (4 nuts/bolts) remover engin mounts/brackets to make more room... then droped sump (there are a few little screws that have to be undon that are for the oil cooler pipes for the trans (if its a auto)
Then reassemble
it was a fair bit mucking around doing it this way but like i said it was all off anyway (suspension)
there is another way of doing it (sump) and that lifting the engin up a bit which i couldnt do as i didnt have a engin crane. NOW NO OIL LEAKS old seal was rubber and i put a cork one on with some ultra blues around it (only a very little)
all up to do sump and replace all suspension it took me 1 and a little days (about 12 hours....takeing it slowly ofcourse and cleaning and drying the sump)
hope it helps i mean it was fun i would do it again lol:p
