What do you use to clean the interior of your car? What products/ Brands do you recommend?
Also, is there anything I can wash/ wax/ polish my car with to make bird poo easier to get off?
Sheree.

I looove detailing. No idea why- I just do!
For bird crap- get it off as soon as possible. If the car still has a decent coat of wax or sealant on the paint, it will be very, very easy to get off. If you leave it on too long and it dries, it can actually pit your paint. Any wax or sealant is a good idea as it just gives you paint a better chance of holding up to the elements and will make cleaning much easier. Just don't forget to rewax periodically. Don't scratch it off either, just in your normal washing go over it a couple of times, leave it to soften and then go over it again and it should be gone just like that.
For interior cleaning, I use Mothers Interior Protectant at the moment. It's easy to get, not too expensive and smells like lollies. Armour All is apparently very, very bad for your interior in the long term. I believe it is because it is silicon based and over time causes the trim to swell and crack. Plus it's sticky and dust loves it. I use a microfibre towel, spray the protectant on it (not directly on the trim) wipe it on, leave it for a short time and then buff it with a clean microfibre. You don't have to buff it, but I prefer the look as it looks more satin rather than high sheen. For your glass, I use Autoglym Fast Glass and microfibres again spraying on the cloth and going over the glass before buffing with a clean one. Don't over do it or it'll streak.
If you are going to vacuum the interior, do it first and do the door trims, dash and console aswell. Use a soft bristled attachment so you don't scratch it all to hell.
The reason for using microfibre over a regular cloth is that it doesn't leave any lint behind and because of the shape of the fibre picks dust up like nothing else I've ever seen. It's because of this that is holds booku more than it's own weight in fluid. You can pay a fortune for them if you really want but I'd just get the best ones you can afford and trust me they are so much better than any other rag out there. I keep mine seperate, wash them after each use and only use them on the engine bay once washing them doesn't bring them back up like new. They last for ages like this.
Repco stock Autoglym stuff, Supercheap and Big W sell Mothers so it's all easy to get a hold off. Don't forget there are HEAPS of products out there that often crap all over the stuff on the shelves. |

MILD50, I wish you would clean my car... I will try that interior cleaner and buy myself a 'mirofibre cloth' I never thought about stuff like that, dad uses old towels..lol
What about tinted windows? I know you can't use certain products on them.
Grandtheftholden, last time I checked there were no bird doodles on my car... |

I think you can get Turtle Wax microfibres for about $20 for three. Not the greatest of quality but not too bad either. Mine held up for quite a while before they were retired.
Most car glass cleaners are safe for tinted windows. I think it is ammonia which causes a problem. I use the Autoglym stuff with no problems whatsoever. If you are really unsure you can use a little bit of water with a microfibre and it'll work well.
And clean your car? I very rarely clean my wifes!! Where abouts are you located? |

| That would be correct abot the ammonia. Im speaking first hand here. the tint is still ok but it has like my kids have wiped a copious amount of a sugary subsance on the window and then I have only half cleaned it. I wanted to get them tinted a little darker any way its just lucky I know this guy I could probably pay him with a slab |

I think it also depends on the quality of the tint used. I'm not 100% sure but I think there are some that hold up to chemical cleaning a lot better than others.
As V8VNCALAIS said, it can lead to a cloudy appearance on the tint. |

| speaking of tint, anyone know a good tinter company in melbourne area? there's tint'a'car, which is probably the most popular but ive heard theyre stuff is pretty average and not even that much of a difference in colour, compared to other tints at least! |

How come some cars can be tinted way darker than others? I was trying to see if I left something in toms car and I coulnd't see through, It was like a mirror. My tint is just like wearing sunnies.

There's different grades for darkness and light penetration.
The legal limit varies from state to state but I think 35% is the common one (I could be wrong). A lot of cars get around with 20% tint which is quite dark. Clean windows look darker aswell because they tend to reflect better.
The other thing to keep in mind is the colour of the car and interior. Obviously a darker interior gives the impression of darker tint and different colour paint gives different contrast. I think lighter colours often look to have darker tints- especially white. |

Every time I go into the car shops and stuff I forget about those Micro fibre cloths (I even went to Repco today!) Today I went to buy eyeliner and stuff at coscut((makeup shop)) and they had Microfibre hair towel thingy. It was only $2 so I thought why not and I can see what you meant about them, My cheapo thing is awesome, I am going to spurge on a good one to see the difference. (That is if I remember!) |

Yeah- I was truly amazed when I started using one. I don't usually buy into what I think are gimmicks but I'm stoked I gave them a shake.
I saw a pack of 25 in supercheap the other day but not sure of quality (I doubt they are special) and price. For $50 it'd be worth a pick up I think. |
