Last night Toms car was stolen.
He found it down at the beach a few kms away.

The CD player was ripped out, the amp was gone, All the wires under the steering column were ripped out,

Glass bottles smashed through the back seats and a random blanket (not his)

Finger prints

He is so incredibly lucky to have got it back at all. My sisters friends vp was stolen, stripped and burnt.

The police said he can leave it in the impound lot and they will fingerprint it to find out who did it but hes not sure if its worth it. They said it will be a week in the lot and he needs it for work.

I personally think he should have them look at it.

If this happened what would you do?

yeah he would be better to leave it with them if the police can get a good clean print then it would be worth the while. usually its a repete offender so the police will more then likely have the finger prints on record.

I will let him know what you guys have said. I think its worth it. At least if it stops someone elses car from being stolen.

It has been so stressful today.
Tom didn't have spare keys so he has to muck around trying to get a new key tomorrow, we had to get a tilt tray to pick it up and I have been driving him around.

I think the people are pretty dumb, If I was to steal a car (hypothetically! im a good girl.lol) I would totally strip something like this!!
We think it was random as they had no tools. The sub and cd stacker were still there screwed in.

OMFG this is a pain in the ass!

The cops said it wasn't worth fingerprinting and stuff but apparently there was a party where the car was found so I've been asking a few people that were around (thank god for myspace.lol) hopefully someone will dob them in.
Tom also has to work and lives 2 hours from here and had no other transport.

We picked his car up today and found out more things wrong with it.
The back right hand bumper part is lower (like they hit something)It doesn't neatly sit under the boot. I didn't notice it yesterday I followed him from the tow truck drivers yard and the back didn't look right.
Under the blue cable hanging outit doesn't line up, looks worse IRL

The steering wheel isn't centred and its revving really high as he drives.

We didn't realise yesterday but they also stole his Monster Tacho.

The interior absolutely Stinks of beer.

He is majorly peed off today its really sunk in whats happened.

We had to get new keys cut for $60 and needed to replace the headlight Switch from the wreckers for $30.

I forgot to add that the Pic above was from Sunday morning as we found the car. I took tonnes of photos before he touched it.
The cable was connected to the amp. It was strange that it was sticking out. It only reaches there when pulled tight (no slack)
It fell in when tom opened the boot. they must have closed the boot while the amp was still attached.

They left the Cd stacker and Sub in there.

wasnt 1 of his m8's? and as for the cops not doing anything thats bullsh!t, I have studied law and have a few rellys that are fairly well ranked in the law world and lets just say that its a load of w..ank. You can demand a dna and finger printing on the car for the fact a report was made..... and Id be telling the lazy copper that you need his badge station ect id in writing and (they have to give it to you the same we have to give our info)and you will be make a formal complaint about how the issue was handled.. frankley Id hassles there arses to do there job the same way they target hoons, they can bust hoons but they cant do car theifs ????? bullsh1t , Id be right up them on this cause thats sh1t ... and tell tom not to do to much to the car keep at them and you will get a result!

Tom is the type of guy that has enemies. He gets really agro when hes been drinking (why he is my ex).
I first thought that it could have been a revenge thing,
But(hypothetically) If I was to get revenge on Toms car (trust me i've been angry enough at him to have thought of this) I wouldn't steal his stuff I'd just kinda ruin it.
I would key the whole thing, I would slash his seats, file his rims, steal just the face of his cd player and cut the sub Wires (if I had the time.)

If it was a revenge thing I think they would've trashed the car not just stolen parts.
The fuel tank was still full, there was no signs of burnouts, It looks like it had been stolen, driven to the beach, pulled apart and left.

Tom was at his friends house when it was stolen, he thinks they must have rolled it right down the street as it has such a roar when it starts that they would be busted straight away.

The stuff stolen was too unique for a friend to steal and get away with it, his friends aren't dodgy like that anyway.

hmmm I have posted pics of it all on my myspace and offered a reward for info leading to the parts or who done it. Hopefully something works out.

Anyhoo boys I am off to Canberra tomorrow morning and wont be back til wednesday, will keep you all posted with what happens.
Thanks heaps so far
Sheree xox.

Oh and I realised I forgot to tell you all how it was stolen.
Toms driver window fell off the track thing (he couldn't wind it up)
So there was easy access to the inside, then all they had to do was turn the key which was in the ignition...
D U M B A S S ! !

Its the first time he has ever left it! He is always hassling me about it (I once left them in the ignition for over a week out on the street when I was sick with the chicken pox)

But whether the key was there or not you shouldn't steal cars!!

Im guessing that it was night time when Toms car was stolen. The bottles and the abandon blanket (Which would have fingerprints and DNA. As Trizo says.) does make it look like a random hit but the present items suggest that it is far from proffesional and un likely to be just joy ridders. (Sweet unlocked car with keys in!!!!!!) If they rolled it down the road like Tom thinks then its some one that knows the car. There are also a few things that suggest they knew what they were doing. Does Tom drive around with the system up?
Tom doesnt have to know them it could jsut be a random who has seen and heard the car around his house around his friends house.
It could just be a matter of some one in his mates street seeing Tom with his car pulling in to his mates load music bass thump suggesting an amp is present to drive the sub. This in mind Tom was probly already being targetted the fact that he left the keys in the ignition just made it easier for who ever took it. all this in mind, its too soon to rule out friends (I dont know Toms friends I know alot of ppl who wouldnt use the stuff they stole) Keep an eye on cash converters and the classifieds. but these sort of things are usually sold to mates who want stuff.

Some one broke into my XE Falcon one night. They stole a head deck from under the seat, mobile phone out of the ash tray and a diskmen from the centre console. I know it was a neighbour of mine because he knew where everything was and the phone turned up in his daughters hand.

A mate of mine had a range rover discovery one of a kind vehicle he came home to find it gone and all his keys scatterd on the floor. He lived back roads between barooga and berrigan. Its a fair hike from any where they would have needed some one to drive them out there then about a month later it was found burnt out in the middle of the barooga state forest. once again a fair hike from anywhere. everything suggested that who ever did it knew where the keys wereand he my mate said that there was only one person who did know.

The random blanket kind of throws me off though. I dont know alot of guys who would walk around the streets drininking with blankets around there shoulders. unless they were of an alternative life style but im almost inclined to say there was a girl along for the ride.

Tom didn't have much of a choice.
He had already had a week off work because he tore his pectoral muscle and he had no money (I paid for his fuel the day before to get home)
His boss was getting really ****ty at him and probably wouldve lost his job.
He also had no way of getting home to Canberra even if he had a lift to work when he was there....
I would've let him borrow my car but I needed it this week, I had to take my Grandad to have a triple bypass on Tuesday, I got home yesterday and am going back up tomorrow to see him.

V8VNCalais, I think you're right about the girl, I used to do that around here! It gets cold here at night!
I dunno about the joyriders, there was practically no fuel missing (I checked coz I paid!) there was no signs of burnouts, it really looks as if it had been driven straight there...

Tom said he can't stand the sound of his car anymore, no radio or cds make the trip REALLY long....

I would say for certain it was from the party. Would have been a cold night and they would have had blankets to keep warm if they where drinking at someone's place outside.

As for the engine revving high, look for a vacuum hose off around where they reefed the stereo out.

And for drunken idiots driving cars, they tend to hit gutters hard. Would be worth getting the wheels aligned. Might have bent the steering shafts too.
