Are you sure it is the cable and not the throttle body?? What makes you say that the cable is sticking??

What's the difference between understeer and oversteer?
Understeer is when the driver is scared.
Oversteer is when the passenger is scared.

Open the bonnet and operate the throttle body butterfly(the bit that the accelerator cable connects to) by hand. There will be spring tension on the mechanism but that should be all. If there is any abnormal resistance (for example - feels like it is sticking and takes a little bit of pressure to free up) the throttle body will be your problem and not your cable.
Have a go at this and let me know how you go buddy!!

As trizo said give it a good clean and then I have found once before with a mates car that the idle screw had worked its way out causing the butterfly to foul on the housing. How is it idling?? Maybe do a base idle reset as well.
