My name is Daniel, and i just joined the website. Had been on it a few times reading some of the forums. I wrote a little about myself in my profile while joining up, and i have to say it was pretty upsetting for me. The reason it was upsetting has nothing to do with you guys or the website, its more the story of how i got my VN. It was my pops car which he owned from new, and he took so much pride in his car. I have always been a Ford man, and about 5 years ago my pop told me he would leave me his car when he passed away. I thought nothing of it at the time as (1) i had no license, (2) my pop was as fit as a fiddle and would live forever, and (3) i was a Ford man! The years went by and the topic of my pops will came up a few times with the above mentioned thoughts springing to mind each time. At the end of last year my pop was putting a post in his garden (his garden would have made it on Burkes Back Yard) when he hurt his back. He went to hospital and was sent home on pain killers. He was bed ridden over Christmas 2007, and at the beggining of 2008 he was admitted to hospital coughing blood. X rays, blood tests, and a CT scan revealed he had cancer. He turned 80 in hospital, and passed away no less than a week after being diagnosed with cancer. When the car made the trip from Queensland to Sydney, my dad left it at my place, and i didnt go near it for a couple of weeks. My friend gave me the guts to go sit in it, and before i knew it, for the first time in my life I WANTED TO GET A DRIVING LICENSE! I recently drove it to my pops resting place, and i think he would be happy with how his pride and joy looks because i know i have alot of pride in my new baby. I suppose the moral is that it took my pop's passing to realise that we should respect everyones pride and joy, regardless if it has the "Blue Oval" of a Ford badge on it, or if it has the "Lion holding a steering wheel" badge of Holden on it. I love my car, not because it has a Ford or Holden badge on it, but because it was my pop's car that he loved, and i loved him.
