Get a small blade and remove the majority of the goot ,hen buy some prepsol and some rage and spend a few hours getting the rest of it off, ad trust me youll be there for a while : ) Another option is to get an air compressor, an ar ratchet and hook a rubber wheel to it, will get it off much quicker but dont hold it on the one spot for too long as it will burn the paint and leave a nasty mark ..
Why in thw world did you take it off anyway? theres the huge job of making the car look clean, and now when your mates open their doors in a carpark theres nothing to protect the doors from being scarred.... |

Unless you trust yourself 100% with the blade or the rubber wheel(i know I dont) i would stick with just the prepsol. Also you can use eucalyptus oil. With the oil put it on (a couple of application will work better) and allow it to soak in for a little while and use a piece of plastic(credit card or bread tie works well) to scrape it off. It will take little while to do but will be less risk of damaging your paint work. |
What's the difference between understeer and oversteer? Understeer is when the driver is scared. Oversteer is when the passenger is scared. |

You are spot on ! why did i do it ? anyway no turning back. Mainly cause the chrome was peeling off and the previous owner had undercoated them . also ive got executive bumpers and it didnt match. I'll buy some prepsol and scrub like mad. Thanks fellas you have given me some good info. and it sounds like any of these methods would remove this glue . Thanks cheers.

a mate of mine bought some custom made chrome pin stripe for his stato , sanded the plastic coating off then carefully stuck it on . it lasted a few years and needs to be redone again . i have not got that much of a steady hand but i can see it would be worth it on a stato , or calais that is schmick ! mine is far from that ... im not sure if holden has any N.O.S. of these as the wreckers ones ive seen are usually cactus .. got any photos here of ya statesman |

i agree on the carby !!! tuned by a screwdriver and less clutter in the engine bay !
ive seen photos of ya calais and i personally think its a keeper . vn 's will be old school
soon so im keeping mine , even if the daily driver becomes some 2 cylinder hydro electric micro puss.
ill just store it ..... |

im starting to get to the stage where id rather the old carby v8 driven holden's (torana lx anyone?) that can be alright to have a few scuff marks and dirty interior. As long as it has the twisting effort to spin donuts in the dry with minimal effort im happy...
Yeah the calais is good but im too scared to clock up the kays and get it dirty, it its in the garage for 95 percent of its life these days... |

well its done thanks fellas , only im too slack to do it slowly . !! the rubber was to thick and impenetrable with chemicals , so i cut some of it with a packing knife , then scratched the paint ( my rush job .... hahaha. ) so i got my orbital sander out and got it down to bare metal. today i finished my respray with cans of primer and matt black. i would only recommend doing this job if you are getting your car full or part resprayed as it is a real headspin , or you know a painter/beater. my old exec was so much easier to do. i used big Kevs goo remover , not sure where its gone ? nodg my votes for a Hk/t/g wagon with a chev. although ive seen a few vn - vs 5L carbies`and that would rock ? |
