Hi, bought my 1990 vn s couple of weeks ago. I bought it with the engine light on and it came up with code 42 (Electronic Spark Timing Circuit (EST)) which i think is either the plugs, leads or coil pack. I replaced the leads as there was a loose one but has made little difference. should i try the coil pack or what nxt?
cheers. P>S when the engine light is off it runs perfectly smooth, but occasionally the car will j0lt making the engine light come on and the car sometimes stalls and idles funy. code 42

ok you can pull the engine and ignition relay out if its a s1 ... if its a s2 just take out the enigine relay!! leave it out for a min or 2 and then replace! start the car and either take it for a drive around the block (nice and easy) or give it a light rev in park untill you hear the revs pick up and then drop ...... THIS IS A SURE WAY TO TELL THAT THE ECM HAS RESET!!! Keep us posted, and if that dont work we will think of somthing else! |
