ok story is there was a HALO 2 bet. i won the match. and the crackhead couzin was bettin his old vn. which is like my vn a 90 commo exec. but with more KMs and ****ter pain and interior. i gave it a clean. re glued the door trim which has unglued. i also took it to my mate's who serviced it with me. anyway these are the problems we found on the last service receipt. im not sure i can fix all problems by myself but il sure try. i recon there wud be quiete a few things which i wont be able to do coz i dont have much equipment at home so probably if anyone could say how much it will cost me at a mechanics.
Horn imparative - althought sometime you might bet lucky to squeeze out a beep, the car was in an accident few months ago, it was fixed but horn stopped working short time after.
Drive belt badly cracked - might need replacing (not including cam belt)
It stalls in reverse mostly sometime in drive, someone suggested a engine and gearbox wash to locate what could maybe be oil leaks. - how wud mechanic charge and how would that be fixed?
Exhaust tailpipe broken and cracked. suggested a brand new exhaust system. how much for a decent exhaust and to have it put on.
Lefthand rack boot split - RH close to splitting.
Rear trailing arm bushes cracked but no excessive movement - need to be replaced? how or maybe how much?
LHF shock leaking badly - wat shud i do? All front caster bushes seem to be worn. Auto trans lines leaking from radiator - wat could be cause?
Big ammounts of dry cooland on the back of water pump.
Pontiard rod bushes worn.
Needs its gearbox mount bolts tightened.
Theres a hole in the rear muffler.
Windscreem washer nozzles are blocked. see i am happy to work on most of these things by myself. but since i live in SA and dont have a lot of mechanic friends or contact its been a rly hard time finding a good mechanics that likes his job and i wud be paying for quality.
thanks guys. your help is very much appreciated. some of the problems with this new vn have been occuring in my old one aswell uncluding. leaks from radator and mine started stalling aswell.

have you asked yourself if its worth it? sounds pretty run down
but anyway, replace boots, not to hard if your patient. leaking shock will need new seal but probaly just as easy to find a second hand one.
replace exhaust, theres heaps around and they arent worth the repairs your talking
with the radiator pull all hoses off and flush it all out, i screwed around with mine for a while before i stopped getting leaks. just makes sure things are tight. check the hoses arent to brittle or tough as it stops them closing up under the clamp
im not sure about the stalling, someone here will know though
and this might be a stupid question but whats a pontiard rod? |

you sure it wasnt panhard rod? thats the only thing i can think of that sounds anything like it
does it run al good? if so then just use it as a paddock car, IMO vn's arent worth bringing back from the dead unless its been worked |

This can all be fixed quite easily for i would say under $1000. Now saying that you could probably buy a decent VN for just over $1000. I got my LE (manual, power aerial and mirrors) for $1500. 350 000 km a few little bit and pieces to fix and it was all systems go. Have a look at what VN's are around and then decide if it worth spending the money on the one you currently have. If you decide to go the way of fixing your old girl let us know and we should be able to talk you through most of the problems you have.
I just read that you have another VN already. Now are you wanting to fix this one up and sell it?? If not i would be using the new one (or the old one, whichever is in the worst condition) as spare parts. |
What's the difference between understeer and oversteer? Understeer is when the driver is scared. Oversteer is when the passenger is scared. |
