Since my car has caught fire twice within 2 weeks of each other, my car has been acting up. The engine light is staying on and when I do the flash test it says that Throttle position sensor low, at first the car was try to stall (it is an auto) now the revs build up, then they drop, then they keep rising till I turn the car off. I have changed the throttle body, still comes up with the same code and idle is worse. I have another computer for a VN-VP but it says on it that it is V6 to V8 and I am not sure if the computers are the same.
Any ideas of what could be going on? any help is appreciated

yes they are both the same but they have different memcals inside them u can swap the memcal from an eight to a six as long as they r both auto computers or manual ones, but in your case they both need to be auto |
I'd gladly push my holden than drive a bloody ford! |

the code will come up untill you reset the ecu by pulling the fuse or disconnecting the battery even if you have replaced the TPS it will still show the error.so maybe reset the ecu first .ide be looking at melted wiring from the fires and then swapping ecu's you can use auto or manual vn-vp ecu they are the same just the chip carrier or memcal is different for vn and vp and for v8 and v6 so put your one in out the old computer it plugs in easy as. |

Thanks for the replies, I have tried all that, I have followed my VP commodore books instructions and tried changing the map sensor, cleaned all plugs. I have seen some damaged wiring but that was from the first fire and the car worked fine until the 2nd fire. I think it could be the wiring harness, my book also suggested that, luckily I have a spare VP motor that runs perfect. Going to swap them over and hopefully my car will run smoother then. Thanks again :) |

Hey All, my baby is up and running again Totally couldn't be happier, but god it has been hell! It has taken me a motor and wiring harness swap and changing the throttle position sensor 4 TIMES!!! found out the first 3 I put on where all stuffed, found an old one I had lying around on a spare throttle body this morning, chucked that on and holy crap if the car didn't start working properly. After all the stress and hassle, I am finally gonna take me baby out for a spin. |
