chasers, interceptors, pursuit rims, cop rims whatever..
i hear the stockies were 15x6 and chasers are 15x7 but i think later around vx or vz or something holden were putting 15x7 on most of them
anyway.. yeah i have 15x7 on my calais, at the moment i have 225/60 15 tires on it
im wondering how wide i can go on 7" rims. i have a mate with some old 245/60 15 tires with around 80% tread, he said i can have them if i go to pick them up but its around 500km away..
i pretty much just need rear tires and dont want to go any smaller than 225, having a ton of trouble finding anything 225x15 anywhere online.
if the 245s fit it would save me quite a lot of money instead of buying tires, if they dont its a waste of money going there and then i still need to buy a set
basicly just want to know if they would fit, in theory its only 2cm wider right? hmm i dont know
either that or does anyone know where around south adelaide side where to get cheap 225s?
thanks if anyone can answer any of this

225 is about as wide as you would want to go on those rims 215's are good. |

Or if you wanted to do something different again, the standard rim on a VE ute is a 16x7. Looks identical to a 15" chaser, just an inch bigger in diameter. Stalk some tyre joints to buy a new set, particularly if said tyre joint is very close to a Holden dealer. |

It was the VX that made 15x7 standard equipment, as I have a set on my VN. I would be looking at either your local Tyrepower, or if you have any branches near you, The Tyre Factory. Are you using the pursuit rims as something for burnouts, or are you changing the look of your Calais? They have these cheap radials they call GTs. Not world class in performance, but ok for day to day driving |

Yeah the VE chasers are 16x7 but the center where the hub goes is 2mm too small and needs to be machined out. Costs about $40 per to buy and another $40 to each machined. I wouldnt mind them in silver but $80 x 4 I could just buy 2 good rear tyres and thats not even including rubber for the VE stockies.
These are the 15x7 on my car but 225/60R15 just cost way more than what they should. 16" 17" and 18" are all cheaper in a 225 than 15".
Anyway I gave up on the 245s because even with my 225s I only have less than 1cm clearance between the guard and the rubber. I know I can get cheap tyres for under $100 each but I dont want 195-215s for the rear, just 225s.
Here is a pic of my car I took today, 215s on front and 225s on the back.
I don't know why I love chasers so much but I would prefer them over nearly all mags I have seen, maybe I'm just used to them.
Still on the look out if anyone knows of some 225s South of Adelaide for under 100 bucks each. |

Found some 225/60R15s in Melbourne for $60-65 each, $30 postage for 2 or $40 for 4. Sounds good to me. |

That's unusually cheap. They're not retreads are they? Retreads have come a long way, but I don't trust them for out of town driving |
