So im almost ready to get my vn exec on the road after just a bit more work but in the mean time i have my eyes set firmly on a VS stationwagon. Its on ebay and ends around monday night and am hoping to snatch it up. its apparently just had 1000 bucks put into it and its only on 200 something atm. regestered and safety cirt with it. is there anything i should look out with VS's?

Cooling system is your main one. They have alloy heads, so check to see whether the water in the radiator is a healthy colour i.e. not rust brown or pee yellow. Make sure you take it for a bit of a drive, and see what the temp gauge does, particularly at high speed. If it just keeps rising, stay away. If it settles into the regular range, no problem. If possible, ask for a cylinder head check on it. Other than that, it's just the normal list of problems you'd find in a VN, unless someone else can think of something.

Definitely the same problems as the VNs. The only difference between a VN and VS tail light on a wagon is that the VN has a "normal" lens and a VS has a "smoke" tinted lens. I know this because I had to change the tail lights on my VN wagon early in the piece. Easy to get rid of the moisture; take off the tail lights, remove the bulb sockets, and blast them out with compressed air. Somebody may have a new idea for the seals on the bulb sockets, and hopefully they're reading this. I always thought maybe an O-ring might do it, but haven't got to that problem yet
