Depends on how it's setup
A Pod on its own is good for noise and that's about all A Panel with a CAI is a cheap way to get a tiny boost in power (maybe). A pod in a custom box with a CAI into it is the best of the lot, but it's a bit more fiddly to get right. |

yeah, the pod gives an extra chunky sound to the engine. i intend to hook up a CAI aimed at the pod and some heat sheilding from the engine. |

Having it just 'aimed' at the pod isn't going to do much, it needs to be in a fully sealed box. The heat shield will help, but again...making a custom box (or modifying the air box to hold the pod) so that it can't suck any engine bay air is the way to go. |

i'm looking at doing a custom box for the pod. But i was thinking about a hole in the bottom of the box to under the car. much easier and cheeper that the vs s/c cai which i can't seem to find. I've seen it on a few VLs, has anyone else tried it?
PS vs s/c cai...if anyone knows of where i can get one in S/E melb for under $100 let me know. I tried my local holden and they didn't have one. |

dont bother cutting a hole just be patient and wait ... if you have a look on e-bay there are quite a few cai 's on there .. the best 1 I found was thongy's auto parts and he's in melb I think... U can get the cai ready made to fit on to the top of the air box , no mods just clip i the vs s/c one aswell ! I think it was $ 78.. |

Not only is it a waste of time, it's illegal to go chopping holes under the air box. It's part of the structural integrity of the car, you go chopping into that and you can expect to get a nice yellow sticker on your windscreen. Unless you get an engineers certificate for it, don't do it. |

Thanks mouce, i wasn't aware of this. I picked up a CAI on the w/e and have hooked up the standard panel filter so everything is nice and sealed. I may look at doing the custom box in the future or maybe just a high flow panel to keep things simple...lol (just like me) |
