Well yesterday my VE Commodore got hit in the car park at the railway station, and it wasn't a small hit, they pushed the car about 3 feet (a meter for the youngen's).

The note on my car read:

The car
that nudged
your bumper
was registered

WYMxxx
Indian lady

So they hit the car and ran with out leaving anything and the person who had seen it, left the note.

To the suprise of the person who hit the car, they got a call from me this afternoon after I did a fair bit of searching. I had a starting point, which is all you need.

After finding the rego number advertised on the web this morning, I called the number and asked if the car was still for sale, and the guy said no, so I asked when it sold and he told me "last week", so I asked for the details of who he sold it to and he said "no" (which I understand).

I then told him why I needed them (that the new owner of the car reversed in to my car and damaged it) and the guy said "no problems, but he was on the road at the moment, and to call back later today". I called hime this afternoon and asked for the following details:

1. Full name
2. Address
3. Contact number
4. License number
5. and if they had insurance

Which he gave me all the information. I then called Mr Varghese (the new owner) and calmly advised him "that his wife had hit my car", to which he replied "yer, so" and the blood started to boil, but nicely asked him what he was going to do and he replied that "he could not hear me", so I told him "that I would call him later".

I then called him later where he advised that "yes, his wife hit the car and he was sorry". I advised him that "he did not leave any contact details and that a witness had seen it and gave me the registration",to which he replied "he left his business card and a note" (which wasn't there).

I then advised Mr Varghese "that his details had been passed on to the police and the insurance company" and I then advised him that "his address is (the address), his license number is (number) and when he purchased the car last week", which he was supprised that I had all his details including his license.

All I can say, I did not spend much time on the web, but I had more information than you can poke a stick at. The poor guy that sold his car had the fright of his life when I said his address and other information about all the businesses that he owns. I told him what I do for a job "IT", and that pleased him, might have to buy him a beer, cause he sounds like a good bloke, just a shame Mr Varghese got the poor guy involved.

Cheers,

David

He'll get his arse kicked in the courts. The general rule when it comes to legal action is that if the damage is $3000 or more, it's worthwhile pursuing. Anything less and a lawyer will umm and aah about taking the case. In most states of Australia, the law says that if a crash involved more than $3000 in damage to either car and/or someone got hurt, then the police get involved whether you like it or not. He's in for one big, expensive headache shortly.

It sounds like this woman got her licence in a Weeties packet; what sort of geriatric stoner doesn't notice they're pushing a 1700kg car with their car?

Sorry to hear about your car buddy. Wonderful what sort of information you can find these days

What's the difference between understeer and oversteer?
Understeer is when the driver is scared.
Oversteer is when the passenger is scared.
