well i blew my "Heavy duty" clutch up on the weekend,they dont like nitrous and 2nd gear,has anyone got or had a ceramic button clutch in their car and have any feed back,good or bad?got a good quote on one and tossing up on wether or not to go for it. hopefully have her back on the road for cfc perth with a bigger shot!!! mainly drag race other than street use and once a year curcuit use any advice would be muchly appreciated. cheers Damo

Have not had one personally but have heard they can be a barstard to drive with. Either engaged or disengaged no in between (slipping)
 

What's the difference between understeer and oversteer?
Understeer is when the driver is scared.
Oversteer is when the passenger is scared.

Not sure about cars, but in truck they can be a real problem. Far from being stronger. some ceramic clutches are in fact more fragile if not driven the proper way. They don't like "gradual" engagement, the way you would with a conventional clutch. Trucks only have them because they take longer to wear, not because they'r any stronger than the old bonded asbestos ones

Dunno what's available for commodores but I'd be looking for multiple clutch plates over a brass button ie twin/triple plates. especially for drag racing
What part of your clutch failed?

Also depending on brand of clutch "heavy duty" might be a sales pitch as opposed to strength of the product.

Multiple clutch plates apparently is heavy duty. Never used them myself though

R&D is all about trial and error so for cheaper than a new rpm388n clutch kit i will give the rpm388nssc ago i can only break something else!! i will keep everyone posted

well its all in now,and is a bit difficult to get used to at first,but im getting there,it feels as though more power is getting through and not wasted in the dampening area of the clutch disc,will be interesting to see how it goes on the pad at narrogin revheads with the back brakes clamped and a bigger shot of nitrous(125hp)

i have a vn v6 na i have a xtreme brand ceramic clutch with a spring loaded center and i cant breake it but i have so far broken 4 gearboxes. been told the xtreme brand hd cluches are good.i also had a pbr ceramic clutch and i riped the centre out of it. also had a exeddy hd clutch and it ripped in half.
