Do it when you paint your car, but it wont be completely removede if you dont take the screen out, if you want to treat it before the new paint work just rust convert the area then sand it away with 800 wet and dry, amke sure the paper is regurly dipped in a bucket of water so it keeps the surface smooth. Get some under coat in a spray and spray the area so it doesnt rust again.
And is your taillights siliconed up or not? Also check to see the metal which holds the main boot rubber is not bent out of shape. When it rains it goes down you rear windscreen and trails past your taillights where theres a big gap between the body and the light itself.

Cheers,
Nodg.

nah it doesnt get wet anywhere near there. when water goes in the boot i know where it comes from. it comes from that little bit of plastic that the balenas have. (it sux) but wen it goes into the windscreen it pours into the inside through the top plastic thing that holds the roof lining and then drips down onto the back seat near the head rest. but thanx for ur help i guess ill have to stop driving in the rain till i move to qld and then get my car painted cos at the moment i cant cos dont have the facility to do so. b4dn xxxx

1more area that you might need to check is the rear quarter window... water will leak in through there cause t was never sealed properbly... you can check this by gently pusinh from the inside and it will move...just need a bit ov silicon in there.. adn should be all good... i found a lot of water come in from there straight into the boot.
