Hi there i was looking for some advice on doing an Automatic to manual conversion on my 1991 VN. When my car is cold the auto refuses to go into revers. So instead of reconditioning the auto, i have a spare VN 5 speed in the shed. What i need to know is how much a conversion kit would cost? Any web sites that might sell these kits ( as i have not been able to find any)? Any advice from some one that may have done this conversion before? My car is the 3.8 V6 sorry forgot to mention that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
There is differant bellhousing configurations for the series 1 and series 2 and are not interchangable. You will need to install a manual pedal box, manual centre console, t5 tailshaft, manual starter motor for your series model.
i have a 91 vn and am looking into doing the conversion. i have been looking around for conversion kits and cant find anything much cheaper then 750... look in the trading post online and on ebay... take your time finding one though...
and your going to have a tough time finding someone to do the labour. i got a mate whos done about 5 or 6 cars 2do mine...
Need assistance with modding my vn, please PM me ideas coz i dont really know what to do...
and another thing, you can use a series 1 gearbox on a series 2 engine but you will have to buy an adapter for the bellhousing and forces you to get a custom tailshaft
Hey thanks for the reply guys looks like i got my work cut out for me. I cant stand having an automatic car. Your help has steered me in the right direction so thanks again.
