Bought me a sub/amp/wires package from jb for $300, last week, and today tried installing it. i got the fuse and power wire from the battery to the boot fine along the driverside. now the trouble i had was trying to locate the 'remote' wire which i think i found but i was confused when i found a 0.5A glass tube fuse located behind the unit, connected to the wire. i found it using a test light with acc on and off. anyway, i figured i'd use the black wire, which is between the rca's as the 'rem/trigger' connection instead of the blue wire i was supplied with from the amp? however even by using the given ground wire i wasnt able to power the amp at all. now i was confused even more when i tried to attach the said black remote wire from the amp to the one behind the unit when the 0.5A fuse blew. replaced with up to 10 and blew aswell. now im not sure what that fuse is doing there, assuming there is another wedge located under the footwell.
test light showed power sometimes and im not sure whether it was the wrong wire i was using or bad earth or what, but i think i will just have to take it to an installer and pay the labour.
before i do that any suggestions?

What's the difference between understeer and oversteer?
Understeer is when the driver is scared.
Oversteer is when the passenger is scared.

ok i didnt get a thing you said its all confusing to me. Anyways ill just explain how i wired my car amp. first of all i removed all my interior and consoles and all leaving me room to install the wires n things. now i wired the power wire first cut the red wire bout 10cm long or a meter long and wired it to the battery then the other end to a fuse holder ( note: do not leave the fuse in there while you are wiring your system. now wire the power wire to the bak on the drivers side. now ull need to find a earth spot for ur negative. which i found best spot is the rear seat metal part. For the remote just wire it to the remote wire from the cd deck. which should say where it is on your cd player intruction book or if lucky there should be a sticker on top of ur deck. now that all that is done conect the RCA cables to the passanger side and thats itall done. b4dn xxxx hope that helped

I'm sorry for the mess. basically i tried to follow the wiring instructions with the kit, but got confused when there was an inline glass fuse on my remote wire, that was .5A, needless to say that blew when trying to connect the remote wire from the amp to it at the back of the HU.
Its a sony xplod GT250S. so anyway, is there an actual need for a fuse inline on the remote wire? can i remove it and just fix the wires together with the remote wire to the amp?

Obviously if the fuse is blowing there is some sort of problem. I would not recommend removing the fuse if it is blowing. The other alternative is to wire your amp to an accessories power source with a switch so you can switch it on and off whenever you want. Or you could wire it without the switch so when you turn the car on or to accessories your amp will power up. All your remote is is a 12 volt signal to an internal switch in your amp to tell it to turn on. I would also either recommend if you are doing this way to either have a switch that is marked with on off or have a little LED indicator light so you know when your amp is on or off.

the problem was that the wire i used as the remote, was infact a ground loop wire connected to the rca's, and this caused the short. so now i will use the other wire and should work fine, assuming i havent blown anything else.
the jb installer gave me the advice. im doing it myself.
