hey whats up, i just got a 91 VN excutive ex cop car a few months ago. i was told that the auto trans in it was made in the us and you cant even get them here in aus anymore. there is nothing wrong with it, its in great condition! its go hard as **** but im thinkin that if i put a manual in it, it would go even harder... so what you think? should i stick with the auto or go for the 5 speed manual?

I love my manual, simply because I feel lazy and less in control if I drive an automatic. Even in traffic I like having to shuffle cogs manually. As for going harder...

That depends entirely on the driver. If you know how to nail shifts first time everytime then a manual will always outrun a stock auto. That said, if you don't hit the gears right then even a stock auto can be a challenge, and you've got no hope against an auto with a shift kit.

If there's nothing wrong with it I'd keep the auto, maybe shift kit it if you want it to be a little more crisp with the changes. When the box comes up for a reco, look at swapping it to a manual. Keeping in mind that to drop a manual in there you'll need the box, a new drivers side footwell, a new fly-wheel, centre console, clutch pedal (and all the assorted crap to go with it).

If it ain't broke don't fix it.
