hey guys. basically what the subject is. ive put a new CAI system in and i got told i should reset the chip. they said something about revving it to 4g after disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes... or i could be completely wrong i have no idea! also i have a 98 gold powerchip, will that make any difference? thanks!! =)

dont need to reset the ecu just because you have a cai.

nodg is right , not unless you removed the T/B but its always good to reset the ecm anyways....and you dont need to rev to 3k revs I dont use a tacho and basicaly , slowly put ya foot down and you will hear it rev (keep ya foot in the same spot dont move it) then you'll hear the revs drop .. this is the ecm rebooting it self so to speak ! fresh as a daisy!

awesome thanks guys... yeah i wasnt sure if i actually needed to but i figured it couldnt hurt and its useful to know! in what kinda situation would you actually need to reset it?

If the battery has been disconnected at any time- whether to change the battery, it's gone flat, or because you've had it disconnected to carry out engine mods. Pretty sure one of the biggest things you are doing is resetting the stepper motor / IAC.

A point to note, is you don't 100% have to hold it at revs, normal driving will sort it out aswell if you are really scared of reving it and holding it there for the prescribed time.
