Just got my tax return and Im going to get a gas conversion done on my VN yeah.......my biggest fear is that simple cars on gas lack oommmmmppppph. this is the bit where its probably going to top it off completely and lable me as insane. some one I worked with said they tune the engine some where between what it should be for gas and petrol. I came to thinking I have an ecu with a memcal that tells my engine what to do. what if instead of having the one ecu and memcal running duel fuel tune and gas on or off at the flick of a switch. I connect up another ecu to the loom with another memcal that cuts in when gas is turne on. its either this or I swap memcals every time I want to run petrol. would this work if any one knows what Im on about

A few years ago i would of said to not go lpg, but at 70 cents a litre its totally worth it when petrol alone is 1.50-1.60, with the right tune you will get more power out of it but then it wont run on petrol properly unless you get premium and use octane booster at the same time..
The tune your getting off me will run better than the stock chip is going to so thats a good starting point, later on down the track you could fork out a few extra buck and get it dyno tuned then simply take the petrol tank and lines out.. straight gas! |

Correct me if im wrong:
i heard straight gas OR straight petrol is best for you car - one or the other is fine with no real power loss. Its when you run dual that will cause the loss of power as the engine is not properly tuned for either one. |

| truth be told the commodores wernt made for gas with the exception of fleet models , but in saying that if you get a good fitter who knows what they are doin and not worried about taking your money, you can get it set to run on either gas/fuel sweet as pie, as for the power loss you realy dont notice it on a gas converted car , its not until it goes on the dyno or you start comparing time s that u will notice anything! |

pretty much right, but you can get both of them working at the same time, the new injected lpg systms are sweet as but the old mixture type will need a good tune, as well as the memcal to compensate. if not there will be a few backfires and possibly some destroyed airbox's.... |
