OK, has anyone tried running multiple coils instead of a coil pack on top of the module?

Something like this maybe?
http://www.spyke1.com/manuals/dfwire.htm

Would the standard ignition module power something like this?

this one is going to sound far fetched no idea how reliable the story was or the source. but any way this guy told me that his mate had rigged up his car with a coil on each spark plug effectrivly elliminating the distributer. I never saw this or actually got anythign conclusive as to how it actually works. the only conclusion I draw was that the idea was similar to the VN V6 coil pack concept. I know I havnt helped at all but any thing is possible. it might pay to run your idea by an auto elec

It would work and is all possible but you need a 'device' to tell the ecu what angle the crank and cams at. in the v6 this is controlled by the crank angle sensor, the position/angle of the cam is in sync with the rest of the motor, so no sensor is needed there as the cam always runs half the sped slower than the crankshaft and the chain connecting the cam to the crank governs this. although on motors built today, there are multiple cam sensors, crank sensors and a whole heap of mumbo jumbo!

All in all its possible but a big effort for something that wont be giving you anymore reliability or power unless your doing something special to it.

Cheers,
Nodg.
