Howdi guys, fish lips is back! WOOP!
Anyway, just a quick question for all you rev heads about your VN's

Ive just done some patch and fix work on my cooling system, and since my first vn had a completly faulty cooling system, i cant trust it to be normal, which leads me to my point...

My vn will sit at the Second line of the temp gauge... EG:
_ Third
_ second
_ First
_ Off

now... when i sit idle for a few moments... it will rise to between the second and third line (see key above) and then fall once the fan kicks in...
MY QUESTION IS SIMPLY THIS!!!!!

1)Is that range of heat normal?
2) what does all of your VN's do?

If you dont like what I say, take a valium, and go away.

coolio... that makes me feel more secure, i have never had a vn that had a steady cooling system lol... so now i know this one is normal... did ur needle move around alot though? cause it only really sits steady when im moving... and all that heating and cooling might lead to a cracked head... how much did ur needle move?

Mine usually sits around the line above the C, and my thermos kick in 1.5 lines above that.

I don't know why, I think we've got the wrong thermostat. Once I get my temperature gauge, I'll check it all out.

lol yeh mine used to sit at teh first line but after changing eh thermostat and the sensor for teh guage it sat at half and then moved while idle and stayed steady when moving.......ON a few times it did move to H lol only cause i had a faulty coolant temp sensor:)

at the end of the day all cars are different......along as it dont over heat as in go toward H (very close to H) if it goes up and the thermo fan kicks in and the temp goes down then its normal..if it still goes up after the fan has cut in then id be a little worried:P

my cooling system has completely shat itself this year! i have a stuffed thermostat, a blocked radiator and now my water pump has gone it never seems to end with these cars! but i wouldnt trade mine for the world! yeh i no im a freak! lol! but yeah before all that happened my car would normally sit on about 4 lines for cool, and in traffic or at lights it would start to climb very quickly until it got to about 2 or 3 lines from hot, then the thermo fans would kick in and it would start to go back down, but from the sounds of it all of the vns are different

I'd gladly push my holden than drive a bloody ford!
