Seeing that other topic about the demister fan not working reminded me of a minor problem i have around the same area.

I don't have a problem with the fan not working mine is going but i have no air conditioning and I've had it re-gassed so the air is chilled and cold but i can get it to run all the time. We were able to sort of like hot wire it from underneath the bonnet giving it power to fire up but it wont stay on because i don't have a switch that i know of.

Is there a switch that specifically turns on the system from the dashboard somewhere or could it have been lost behind the console from fiddling around with other things.

If anybody knows what my problem is there that would be handy cos I'm stuck so bad with this and it's summer and i need it.

danm I can only suggest buying a toggle switch! have it rewired properly.. The reason I say this is because the fans on all cars work under high voltage and are a real drain on the system (hot wiring it is not advised WILL CAUSE A MAJOR FIRE) unless your any good with electrics (god knows Im not) get a auto elecy to look at it should be a half hr job all up and cost around $35 to sort out!

wiked so basically just like what i did jump starting the air con but since i don't know if there was a switch or something i can put in or have put in my own coming up the dashboard for me to flick on with the fan when i need to.
$35 is nothing I'll have it done like you said.As long as i have it all wired and fused properly i shouldn't be a risk of fire.

thanks trizo

From memory there should be an a/c switch under your headunit which should when operated cut the compressor clutch in and out. Which bit did you hot wire??

What's the difference between understeer and oversteer?
Understeer is when the driver is scared.
Oversteer is when the passenger is scared.

what i meant was that i need to find the switch which turns on the AC and if i think about it i can't find it or there is none i done know how it activates from factory.

From under the bonnet we just gave it power from the battery with leads with alligator clips on it and fired it up but don't know if there is wiring that runs back up to the dashboard for it to be operated manually.

what i cant work out is that piece of plastic that says Radial tuned suspension on it just has a red light a a couple of blank spaces for a switch to be possibly on more up market models as mine is only a Exucutive.

the switch has been removed, I had this on my cal and it was due to the fact that the dummy that had it b4 took stuff aprt and then wasnt bright enough to fit it all back together!

that makes perfect sense you know the guy who had my car be4 me rushed everything and job he did to it and the electrics are a nightmare no wires were fused it was dangerous and plain laziness. I've had to go around the whole bloody thing fixing all his problems and now I'm up to this.
