Hey crew!!!
Here is a question..... I had standard pursuit wheels on my VN until today when I purchased new 5 spoke ROH mag wheels... The mags and tyres are a lot bigger than the standard ones that I had before plus the new ones are low density..... However, when putting them on and took for a test drive.... Made the car feel heavy slightly as well as I could hear the tyres.... Kinda like driving a 4WD down the highway, makes that wheel sound??? (so hope you get what I am saying)
Can anyone tell me if thats normal to hear the tyres as well as the car feeling a little bit more heavy??

Hello , sounds ok ! when you put on a wider tyre the steering gets a little heavier and depending on the tread patern it can sound quieter or noisier. i would not worry as long as the car drives straight and balanced. |

different brands of tyres make different levels of road noise, what brand is it? i found the bridgestones to be a bit on the loud side. |
Cheers, Nodg. |

LOL It certainly is costing me a bit... but it has been awesome to do this little beauty up!!
Here is another questions..... With the fatter tyres (which are bridgestone loud buggers thanks nodg) would the car be working a little harder than normal then making the car run hotter?? Found last night that she got pretty hot quick while cruising behind some coppers yesterday and cause they were driving miss daisy, my car got hot.. real hot... but as soon as I got up some speed the temp went down.... She never did that with the other wheels.... or could it just be that the fan aint kicking in when it supposed too.... I never here the damn thing is all....
Cheers |

that wont be a problem with the wheels i would think. with bigger wheels you have less rolling resistance, better economy, better grip and braking so i don't think thats making the car work harder.
VN's very typically overheat mine does the same going 100km's the gauge drops on temp. |
I'll show you the Rick James cell. It's superfreaky!. |

How hot did it get , and how much time ? mine sits on 1/4 to a 1/3 most times except when the outside temp. is above about 35 c. , if yours goes well above 3/4 for more than 5 mins. in normal driving ,and if the fans ok , then you may need to flush out the radiator. and put some new coolant in. |

Sweet... thanks guys...
After doing some short trips around Brisbane (ie going to shops, picking up dinner) then on the trip home being stuck behind rolling coppers and then stopping at a red light, she got hot fast.... she normally sits at 1/4 and sometimes a little above it..... but lately sitting at lights she will get real hot approx 3/4 of the way...?? How fast?? Well I would say after doing the shopping and sitting behind slow pokes and getting every red light possible... then she gets hot....
I will give it another flush.... prob with mine is when I bought it from this old mechanic fella, he had a S1 coolant surge tank to a S2 radiator... so I technically have 2 radiator caps..... WTF I will grab a replacement radiator cap too.... for the life of me I cant find a replacement surge tank cap.....
Thanks again!! |
