I have a vn v6 series II rebuilding myself with a mech guide..

Do I have to remove the crankshaft to replace the rear seal???

Any hints or tips on the best way to do this..

Im replacing the front seal as well as the welch plugs and hoses while its out of the car...

Also is there a way to tell if the cylinder bores have been touched/honed???

And while Im here we did a compression test all 6 came close with 5 at 170 and 1 at 160 psi is this good as the book doesnt give me any clue lol...

Nope dont need to remove crank with the series 2 as they are a neoprene seal and not the old rope seal.
You should be able to remove the rear seal using a screw driver. As you are replacing it dont be afraid to destroy it.
When installing the new one try and find something the same size as the outside diameter of the seal ( for example a large socket or a piece of water pipe)and use this to install the seal evenly also to prevent damaging the seal by hitting it directly. If you have nothing available suitable just take it easy and knock it in evenly.

Minimum cylinder pressure is 100 PSI and there should not be any more than 10 PSI variation. So what you have there is excellent.

Just wondering what manual you have?? Also have a look in your Tune-up and Maintenance section of your manual and you should find all these specs.

Let us know how you go. Good Luck!!

What's the difference between understeer and oversteer?
Understeer is when the driver is scared.
Oversteer is when the passenger is scared.
