Hey bigjohn

For the gearbox adapter you can try Dellow Automoive, they are located in South Oz.
I know they do heaps of conversion kits, sorry I don't have their phone number handy.
It would be worth doing Google search for them.

With your 400ci chevy small block conversion I'm not sure it will be legal for the street, but you could chat to people like Castlemaine Rod Shop.
They could at least point you in the right direction on it.

Good luck with it mate, hope it all works out for you

TDK its amazing

Ok for starters go for the adaptor plate but i have heard of so many drama stories i dont know if its worth the bother, maybe do a bit of research before you decide to go down that road, plus in my opinion a th700 on a 400 chev is not a wise idea, the th700 box is plain crap and a hydraylic driven turbo 350 would be best suited for your application.

Now being 400ci, it wont go straight on the road as its bigger than the 5 litre v8 whih was the largest motor available in that model as you already know. But definately doablewith the addition of a mod plate, maybe research that and see what the cash budget will turn out like. could be cheaper to bomb a 5 litre or 3.8 and drop it in?

Cheers,
Nodg.

Good point. And remember, a 400 Chev is quite a bit heavier than a 308. It's why American muscle cars tend to understeer
