Sounds as though you are trying to install a VR-VS cluster into your VN. This will not work without rewiring the plugs going into the back of the cluster. You must have VN-VP for VN-VP and VR-VS for VR-VS.
What model is your car and do you know what the cluster is out of??

What's the difference between understeer and oversteer?
Understeer is when the driver is scared.
Oversteer is when the passenger is scared.

If that is the case then I am sorry you are going to have to either rewire the plugs (if you have not done any major damage) or get another cluster.

Just go to the wreckers and find a Vn-VP cluster 2 or 3, most of the 2 and 3 will have the tacho on it, because mine is automatic it didn't come with the RPM, so i got a cluster out of a VP berlina, it has the rpm on the left, speedo in the middle and fuel and temp on the right, i took my original odometer off and put it on the new cluster, also watch out for odometers that don't work cause the little 25tooth gear cog brakes but thats easily replaced
