The crank angle on the vx is behind the harmonic balancer (bottom central) To do this remove the harmonic balancer's nut.. This can be a bit tricky as an impact gun needs to be used to do it the right way! For a impact gun to fit properly in the engine bay you will need to remove the engine fans and radiator. Now there is a cheap dodgy way to remove it quickly and without removing anything but be warned this is not supported by this site in any way.. All you need to do it get a breaker bar and socket to fit the pulleys nut, then what you need to do is place the breaker bar either on the DRIVERS side on the groun d or wedge the breaker bar on the body. NOW turn the motor over for a split second which will undo the bolt for you :) Try to remove the pulley by hand, with any luck it will slide off with little (or alot) of effort.. If it doesnt come off then borrow or buy a claw type pulley remover (make sure its a large one) and remove the pulley. The sensor is located behind the oulley and will take a few minutes to change over. Make sure its fit snug and in the original position of the old one to avoid damge to the new sensor or the back of the pulley.
Now onto your new car. when the motor turns over does it make a rattly, mettalic, thud, clunk etc type of noise?oes the motor turn over with ease? |
Cheers, Nodg. |

Cheers for that Nodg. When I started the car it takes about 15 seconds to fully kick over, when its trying to the sound is like what the sound of ur car would be if you kept the key turned once it was on if that makes any sense lol, nearly made a liar of me just then nearly started perfectly! I did an ecu check for the error codes the other night but it didnt give me anything, lovely code 12 lol. im thinking maybe giving it a good service might help??? not really sure. another question what does the crank angle sensor actually do? |

Doesn't the crank angle sensor control ignition timing? as it has no conventional distributor, I gather it tells the ECU when to fire the coil packs |
