few pics for the boys of the vn 304 im away tuning :D ill make the guy join up and he can do a build thread on it goes pretty hard we just pulled the engine down and discovered 4 broken rings and 2 missing ringlands so its just getting a full race series rebuild kit through it before we head off for some dyno time next week to see how much we can get out of it allso fitting the turbo grind cam at the same time.

There's an engine bay you'd call MAYHEM! In a car yard I used to work for, they had an HSV GTO coupe (VX spec) with this crazy twin turbo plumbing, all of which was hidden below the bonnet. It had a smooth cam, yet this thing was putting out about 600 horsepower. Didn't get to see it too closely, but two huge intakes dominated each side of the engine bay. If this one had a lumpy cam, and went for either one huge turbo or two smaller ones, 600 horsepower may be a conservative estimate. Never underestimate the potential of a Holden V8 fiddled with!

well just finished the full engine rebuild for it full ACL race series gaskets main and bigend bearings and race rings as well as a turbo cam profile and 2 new pistons to replace broken ones from the old owner and man shes a weapon now havnt even hit boost yet and its impressive just giving it a few days of no boost cruising to run it all in and bed in the rings heres a vid of us running in the new turbo cam and lifters at 2000rpm fresh after the engine was built and installed last night http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1ouPT57xoQ and a quick 1000rpm idle and free rev vid after we parked it when we got back from the test drive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OFbbsOIDYc wants to come on boost at 50kmh in top gear at 10%tps definately going to be mad, before hand you had to pull it back to 2nd on the T400 and rev it to 3000+rpm before much would happen

Without even pushing it hard, it sounds like something that would bite very hard, if given the opportunity. Some engines have heart from day one, if you mess with them as well, they turn into feral animals.

Knew a bloke whom had what started as a stock VH with a 308 and an M21. It would start smoking in 1st, through to 2nd, and 3rd, before getting traction in 4th. He wasn't holding his foot on the brake, this was wheelspin from a hard takeoff. He finally decides that he wants more power; balanced, blueprinted, oversize valves, 650 double pumper, headers, and a 3/4 cam. It now won't idle below 1000, and is sporting a new paint job. Imagine Peter Brock's Bathurst VH, paint it dark green and add tinted headlight covers. We're not entirely sure what it could do down the 1/4 mile, other than *****in' FAST!
