Well I suppose you could call it the end of the chapter on NVSVN, well the first one anyway! Moved the vn out to my uncles property in the country and it is now a write off. dumb red neck bogan cousin jumped on the roof and caved it in soo bad, then ran the back over with a backhoe. well all good things must come to an end i suppose

What kind of a bonehead does that to a car that obviously has one or two things still useful on it? Remind your hillbilly cousin that the next time you see him, don't expect any favours at all. If I had the means to move it here, I would have. I have space for at least three cars, although two spaces are spoken for. Due to both my HZ and VN needing parts, I hope to find a VN wagon more or less complete. I feel for cars that are loved, then abused by some moron who doesn't understand the idea. Had this nutty idea of using the parts wagon to move the less useful parts to wherever they need to be by switching the ones I don't want onto it. Although it would be bloody funny to see a VN wagon sporting an HZ diff, slightly bent bonnet, rusty tailgate andother pieces scattered throughout. |

Which is exactly why his dad should never buy him a car, not even help him finance one. Then again, if I had kids, I would start him at about 10 years old. Tell him that he has to do stuff for the parts to build it. Tell him that it will be built up over time, so by the time he or she's ready to get a licence, not only will he or she know his car intimately (because he or she has to help me assemble it) they will have a profound respect for it. As opposed to some rich knob whom panders to their kids' every whim without having to exert any effort for it |

Could not have said it any better Mechknight73! I inherited my car from my grandfather, and despite the fact that i am a "blue blooded" Ford man, i have had his car in my possesion now for close to 2 years, and it is proudly my beast. It is my beast because i know that my grandfather only owned 3 cars in his whole 80 year lifespan, and he worked his butt off to purchase the VN brand new when he retired. When i wash her (which is every week and i think the neighbours think im mad for it), i think of my grandfather, and i have respect for the fact that he spent so much time away from home with work (he worked for the railways and built alot of the lines down south). Respect guys, it is the biggest thing we can all learn in life, respect for our fellow human beings and their property |

I lost my father to a massive heart attack when he was only 45 (I was 15 at the time) His car was a '74 LH Torana, and although well worn, was well loved too. My sister got her licence, and it became her car, until a @#&*wit in a Volvo ran up the back of it. It upset me at the time not just because this idiot might have killed my sister (she was at the stop sign on a busy T-intersection waiting to turn left) but because I lost yet another link to my father, only a few months after losing him.
There is a silver lining to the story. Dad's Torana was that very loud lime green they call Barbados green. The insurance company paid out on the crash, and some bloke in the nearby town of York bought the wreck. He replaced the rear end, resprayed it Windsor blue, and dropped a 308 into it (original engine was a 173 with a 3 on the tree) The Volvo wasn't so lucky. It was sent to the scrapyard, to be stripped of parts and cut up for soup cans. |

One of my other hobbies, story writing lol. It's as good a stress release to me as an hour or so with a punching bag is to other people |
