had an interesting prob today my wife's vn v6 was stuck in first gear wouldn't change out of first reverse also worked, I drove it, still doing it, sped up to sixty lifted foot off a couple of times then suddenly it changed up and now seems to be working fine. Any ideas what could cause this

Yes. Mechanical fault. The kickdown on these is hydraulically controlled. It runs on hydraulic pressure. In the short term if it does it again, park up, and tug on the accelerator cable. Take it to a transmission place and tell them you want an anti-stick spring fitted to the valve body. It will cease to be a problem so long as a. it has enough auto trans fluid and b. the bands are not worn out. This happened to me early in the piece with my VN, and this was the process to fix it.

same thing happend to my burnout car when i put a new auto in her the auto was sitting for about 2 years i rang up the auto guys and they said eather your kick down it to tight or your govner is stuff and i did was done a burnout in my back yard smacking the rev limter and it hit 2end its fine now i found out that it was the govner not letting enough tanny fuild though but it freed up and it seems fine now my mate said to my to pull apart the back of box and give it a wiggle and lube it up so i did it the lazy way lol rev the sh*t out of it
