Clear, as in when backlit, it looks as if they're lit up? I would be asking places that recondition gauges. I only know of one place that does it in Australia, AISAT instruments in Welshpool, WA. There are bound to be others, but I have no idea where.
I'm unsure about the size, but Lexus use red dials that are lit up by the fluoro backlight of the dash. Dash needels that would be clear transparent plastic would technically be illegal, as they would be harder to read at night, and in certain light during the day. |

I guess it would be possible, if you could get the needles, to have clear ones with white faces. If you can get a VP cluster in bits (remember to take a lot of photos before dismantling) and find out how the needle is attached to the gauge. If you know that, then find a workshop that deals in acrylic plastics, as in the type that tail lenses and flshing light lenses are made of. I have no idea what holds the needle on in a Commodore's dash as I haven't been that deep into them. If the acrylic is transparent, so long as you paint the front face of the needle, it will work the way you want it to.
One more note: when you install the needles, make sure at least one light is right at the base of each needle, or the whole thing will be as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike |
