Anyone know where to score an aircon blower fan cheap for a VN? I don't want to use secondhand stuff unless I have to, as you will have all the associated problems with secondhand electrics i.e. cannot be trusted to last, and will have to go through the messy process of changing it again. My location is Western Victoria, but I'm willing to go as far as Mt. Gambier or Geelong if necessary

Apparently Holden still make these fans, but it's horrendously expensive. The price was something like $150! Have managed to get into the terminals on this fan motor, and have discovered that it's ok. Thankfully, it means no having to take the whole dash to bits to get the fan working again |

I am buying the fan resistor modeul tomorrow, and went to the trouble of replacing the switch. I tested the fan by hooking it directly to the battery, and seems to be fine. So I've been told, 90% of them work on the top speed setting when the fan resistor is stuffed. Mine, I hope, is one of thse 10% that doesn't. So spending $66 on a new resistor module is justified |

It would not take you long to pull the old one and check it to make sure. |
What's the difference between understeer and oversteer? Understeer is when the driver is scared. Oversteer is when the passenger is scared. |

I'm replacing it anyway. I've had enough of the blower fan not working, and all of this is part of getting it roadworthy for Vic plates |

There's a guy in Ballarat called Jimmy, he owns a place called Recomm, give him a call if its not to far out of your way, he's great at getting stuff in, and reasonable with his prices for brand new stuff. If he cant get what you're after good chance he will no who can, phone number is 53363210 |

I've installed a switch and a new resistor model, and both have done bugger all for the problem. I give up, I'm calling the auto sparky when I get my tax cheque. Same goes for the radiator fan. Both of these delinquents have been a thorn in my side for a while.
The list of stuff to fix is at least getting shorter. Once the above electrical jobs are done, the only things left are the o rings on the power steering fittings, clean off the grease at the back of the engine and replace the rear muffler.
As for your question HSV Babe, I'm in Portland, just shy of 300km by road to Geelong. Ballarat is almost the same distance, but I'm looking for an excuse to be a tourist in Ballarat lol. I'm the great-great grandson of one of the original Eureka Stockaders. |
