Hey guys, was driving on the freeway the other day and my car was reving high it didn't feel like it slipped into over drive so i got out of the car and there is a sensor plug behind the throttle body somewhere i took it out and put it back in and then as i drove again the torque converter kicked in, how is that plug related???

I can't remember exactly what it does, but the torque converter does have some kind of sensor attached to it, which feeds info of some kind to the ECU. I know others will know what this thingy does better than me |

The TH700 automatic transmission is operated purely on oil pressure, the only electronic gadget it has is the transducer speedo drive. The torque converter relies on lockup which allows it to go into overdrive what you described will only occur with low fluid level, incorrectly adjusted kickdown cable,a shot torque converter or blocked veins.. Im guessing you have a series one v6 in which the t/b is at the back of the manifold, above the transmission. The plug was most likely for one of the t/b such as t/b position sensor or idle air control valve.. Or by sensor do you perhaps mean the cable that runs alongside the accelerator cable???
Has it done it again since and are there any more symptoms? sounds a bit weird the way it was described... |

Not exactly true nodg. The lockup is ecu controlled |
What's the difference between understeer and oversteer? Understeer is when the driver is scared. Oversteer is when the passenger is scared. |

I only knew about this sensor because of the last time I had my transmission serviced. I asked the mechanic straight out, "is there any kind of electronic management hooked up to these transmissions?" He did mention this sensor. |

Lock up solenoid is controlled via the efi control unit depending on vehicle speed and gear position. |

It hasn't done it since, But I notice driving around town at 60 it doesn't lock up like it used to, Now it only seems to do it when passing 90, the plug I pulled out at the back of the manifold might have been a co-incidence cause I also added more trans fluid as well. |
