that thing, so i pulled it off and cleaned it. roughed it up with some sand paper, pimered it, and the spayed it with my touch up paint, i think it turned out good :)
There is another way you can do it if you want to take the "custom" theme further. The rear bumper on any VN is a 3 piece item; the sides and the rear. If you've seen a VQ Statesman (VN based) it has the numberplate mount on the rear bumper. You can either use the VN "Aero" panel (which is flush with the tail lights) the boot trim from a Statesman (flush except for where the badge attaches) or even the VP Commodore boot trim. The VP is the same type of red plastic as the tail lights. You only need the centre panel from the VQ Statesman rear bumper, and the wiring for the numberplate light is identical. Your idea does look good, I'm just giving you some ideas for down the track if you get bored with how it looks now.
