Gday guys. Ive had a caravan for about a year now and the vn pulls it with ease!!. the only thing that has happend is the tranny overheated! causing it to do funny things like change whenever it feels like it etc etc. now ive got a newer tranny in the car i am looking at getting a cooler for it. ive just been down the wreckers and theres a cooler there out of a magna. i was wondering if there is a specific cooler i have to use or could i just grab this one. it looks fairly new condition. also is there any point on the transmission i can mount a sender unit for a temperature gauge or is there already one there i can hook into???. thanks

As far as I know, there's a tranny cooler built into the radiator of the automatic VN's. If you don't have one on your car, find out why.
The cooler out of the magna would work, in that it would cool the fluid, however the question of 'will it fit' is still open. The brackets may not line up, you might have to custom make something to hold it in place. In short, you CAN do just about anything to your car, if you're willing to play around enough.
I'm not sure if there's any place on the tranny you can mount a sender, but mucking around with a power-drill and a tap & die set would solve that problem. Just make sure that it's an electrical gauge, not mechanical. |

| For most applications the factory cooler should be more than enough, my first suggestion would be to talk to your local holden dealer, and see if they have a 'heavy-duty' tranny cooler for a VN (or even a VP). If you can get an OEM part that would be a much better option. |
