u can put the handle back in the plastic holder pretty simple they normally sont break anything when they fall out or get ripped out and next time u pull it get some1 to push down on the bonnet lighty while u gently pull the cable

there is another way if u want to attempt it

Since you've managed to get the grill off the front it's normally possible to get a LONG screwdriver in there and flick the latch. Try lying under the front bumper while you do it.

It might help if you have someone put some weight (ie sit) on the bonnet, just over the latch pin so that it's easier to pop the catch out of the way. And for all that it's going to be hard, take it easy with it and you'll get there with it.

the question is, has the bonnet shifted, ie; is there a larger gap between the bonnet and front panel on one side than on the other??? I went through the gentle push stage too but then the bonnet shifted somehow, leaving a 1.5cm gap on the drivers side and virtually no gap on the other side.... this meant that the the coil on the latch pin was jammed in and voila here comes the grinder lol...

How did the bonnet shift by pulling out the grill? Must have had a hinge collapse on you or something, because you should be able to pull out the grill without doing any damage to the bonnet at all.
