Hi all, anyone done a LPG conversion on a VN before? Thinking about doing it but not sure if it's worth the money. Would look to run straight gas if possible but i'm more than a little worried about power loss and weather or not the engine would be happy runnin on gas. Also does runnin gas stop you doing any other mods?

This is discussed here http://www.vncommodore.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=253 basically the wash up is if you tune the car right for gas its all good, however it will take a lot of km's travelled to get you money back.

As for performance mods I dont see why it couldnt be done.

If you're thinking of running forced induction then I'd steer clear of gas, setting up gas with F.I. can be done, but it's really not the best way to do it.

All the other major mods are no more difficult.

Cheers guys - not looking at going over the top with engine mods, i was more concerned with air intake issues like larger throttle body, cold air induc and so on. I'll check out that link from Easy and see what's there.

hey Mouce, just reading the other posts on from Easy's link - you say gas has the engine runnin hotter right? Do you know how much hotter? At the moment i have no heat related issues she never gets above 1/3 no matter how hot a day it is.

I had a mate with a VN wagon and the only difference between his wagon and my sedan (other than the obvious) is that his was on gas. Sitting at lights on a warm day it was not uncommon for his to sit one or two notches below HOT.

When he was running on petrol our temperature gauges used to match up almost exactly the same, on gas...mine was always a lot cooler.
