Have decided that when I'm ready to build my one tonner, I'll first build a new engine for the VN, then take the VN's original engine and work it for service in the one tonner. There is a tradition with almost every car I've owned; they all swap at least one part, even if that part is as tiny as a single screw. As mine is an S1, I want to do away with the S1 manifold for the one tonner and fit an S2 one instead. Besides the manifold itself, are there any other parts I need to change or modify for it to run as an S2?

Have heard not possible to change complete top ends over as parts don't match up. I like the idea of the V6 in the Tonner , i had one and their an awesome beast. I remember the fire wall had so much room between the motor and dissy that setting the S1 up you should have plenty of clearance for the original manifold , if that's a concern. Putting the V6 back as far as possible will do wonder's for the handling though. |

The Holden Red sixes had their engine mounts right in the middle of the block. a V6 by comparison has them slightly forward of midway. I know I'll have plenty of room, I'd just like to not use the header tank cooling system if it's possible without too much work. I know I can use a 9-core V8 radiator for cooling, as the hoses are round the right way for a V6 (Holden Reds had them on opposite sides for sixes and V8s)
If possible, I want to go even further than average, grafting rack and pinion steering, and using the V6 power steering pump. Even the air conditioning will work, because I still have most of the parts from the HZ to make it work.
Target horsepower will be 160kW, but may get more out of it. Will be a local build, but the engine itself will be built from race parts, mated to a Borg-Warner T5, and a 3.08 diff from a VN or VP |

sounds like a cool project , smart move with the BW diff as disc's and plenty more room for super wide rims.
used a S1 V6 radiator on my Red V8 and worked fine. Interior wise whats the plan ? |

| Could be a couple of years, because I still have to either save for a deposit on a house, or find one with a decent shed that my girlfriend and I can live in |

| Interior-wise, I want to use Recaro buckets, keep the stock Kingswood dash, but have a cluster of instruments above the dash. Where the clock would be on the HZ, will be two new instruments, "angle indicators" for the front and rear spoilers. There will be an overhead console for the various extra switchgear and somewhere to put my UHF two way. The floor console will likely be a custom build, making it bigger than usual. I'm even toying with the idea of making the centre console refrigerated, such as how they are on the Landcruiser Sahara. |

| The idea behind using a 9-core Kingswood radiator is because it's made of brass and copper, not plastic and aluminium. Like everything else on it, it will be restored, rebuilt or overhauled in some way |

| the series two conversion is pretty straight forward i have done it to my car, you will need manifold, water pump steel pipe, radiator, fuel rail, heater hoses and you need to undo the loom to move the two plugs that go on under the throttle elbow to the front under the altenator i think thats about it but i did mine about 6 months ago so dont know if i have remembered everything. |
Save a dim sim fry tyres instead. |

| if your using a s1 auto box the manual probably wont mount up, on the s2 the end of the crank was the same in auto and manual but s1 were auto or manual crank ends. |

| Will add it to the list of parts to source when I get around to it. This will definitely be running a Borg-Warner T5 manual gearbox, so will source the crank as part of the rebuild |
