Hey guys
I got a problem with my vn 304, its starts up fine when it’s cold, but once the car gets pretty warm, the car just cuts off randomly and when you try to start it back up, the revs just go crazy and it cranks and cranks and she wants to fire up but doesn’t. Sometimes it back fires. Any ideas what this can be? I do have one injector leak which I haven’t not changed yet also I have changed the internal fuel pump with a 400hp one which by-passes the external pump (has been disconnected). Once the motor has cooled down it starts up fine.

iv tried doing a code check but didnt work for some reason. also iv been told cud be ecu or either the hall effect sensor in the distrubutor.

help would be much appreciated thanx

It could be either of those, but first check the fuses and relays connected to the ECU. If the ECU fuse has corrosion, it may create some resistance, enough to confuse the ECU into shutting down the engine

I had something similer, it was the EST controller on the left hand inside guard. My car's symptons were similar except the revs where ok at idle, The easiest way to prove the fault is swap the controller between cars. I'll look for the document to test your hall effect device and scan it in if required.

Have you solved your problem?? How??

I think I have the same problem for the second time. My Car is misfiring at all revs and stalling when idling. Its just that the EST controllers are quite expensive for reconditioned (exchange)
