Hi Guys,i've done a Google but a bit of conflicting Info. out there.
Is there a how to guide on replacing the Engine mounts on the Forum somewhere.?TIA

i dont think so, but i did mine a few months ago. took me quite a while and alot of sweat tears and swearwords. Make sure you have a good sized trolley jack, car stands, a good ratchet and spanner set, maybe a breaker bar to loosen the bottom nuts if theyre hard, wd40/rp7/crc and small hands. If your doing the back one aswell, its by FAR the easiest to do and only took me about half an hour while taking my time and cleaning all the bars etc.
the front ones are quite fun, one could put it. ive been told that theres a certain trick to doing vn mounts. and i believe it haha. getting them out is easy.
1. jack her up and rest it on the stands.
2. take off the air box and intake pipe and most likely the top hose for the radiator aswell. then the air compressor bolts to move it outa the way, but NOT the ones going to the compressor. its kinda highly illegal to take them off by yourself. just need to move the thing out of the way.
3. unbolt all the bolts on both sides top and bottom, the drivers side is nice and cramped so heres where small hands come into play.
4. jack up the engine with the jack and a piece of wood across the top, otherwise you will cave in the sump pan... take my advice it will. should be able to struggle with the things n reef them out if all goes well.
5. clean oil, sludge n other crap off the mounting plates so you dont contaminate the new mounts.
6. put the new ones in but in a cetain order.. i believe the way to do it is the drivers side bolted to the engine, and the pass side to the chassis. due to the bolts for the mounts being on such angles, you cant just bolt them both on somewhere and drop it in, i tried for 3 afternoons. it wont happen.
this is a very annoying and fiddly time where alot of your money will most likely go to your swear jar.
if you manage to get them in well done, then just bolt it all up nice and tight. when i undid mine almost all the bolts were finger tight, if they were there at all..
7. replace the aircon comp, air box, pipe, rad hose and refill coolant.
hopefully it should all be good by now, good luck.

*also i think i had to undo the exhaust manifold on the passenger side of the engine for it to move or for me to get room the the AC bolts. just undo then budge outa the way.

Also where do you live? Some blokes on here are usually able to help out, though the websites been rather deserted lately... :/

Thanks 'voodoo' for making the effort to reply,the cars in Lismore at the moment but may drive it to Sydney and do it at my Brothers place at Xmas.I thought i saw a step by step here earlier in the year but it seems they lost a lot of info somewhere along the line.I'll post on how it goes.

While its fresh in my mind this is how we did the engine mounts on a series 2 VN V-6.Its a bastard of a job,hard to get at bolts/nuts and hard to fit new mounts but it takes a lot of vibration out of the car.We used the Ebay mounts $80 pair,they seem to last a few years before sagging and leaking like the originals.Repco have solid rubber ones available.
1...undo bottom Radiator hose from block & tie back to radiator if not replacing.If replacing cut off Radiator end as forcing it off can cause side tank seal to leak.
2..Take off serpentine belt and air box to throtle body intake.
3...Undo 4 bolts on side of Aircon. compressor & drag forward to acess engine mount bracket on block.These are hard to get at & tight,we used a 13mm(1/2 inch) ring spanner with end ground off & small tube placed over the end to get leverage.Do not undo gas lines to compressor.
4...undo 3 bolts holding bracket onto block but do not remove completely.
5...undo 2 bolts holding engine mounts to frame underneath the car on each side.
6..undo 2 bolts holding drivers side engine mount to engine bracket.This bracket can stay on car.Again we used a ring spanner with a tube on the end to loosen these as they are tight.
7..jack up engine by placing a lump of wood under sump.
8..remove throttle body plate as it will hit firewall.
9..remove engine bracket & mount from passenger side,you should now be able to remove drivers side engine mount.
10..fit new engine mount to passenger side bracket noticing which way old one comes off,they only fit one way and its possible to fit them upside down.Fit bracket to car with 2 bolts lightly done up & bottom bolts thru chassis.
11..fit drivers side mount,it takes some lining up but should fit.Fit bolts thru chassis first then try & line up bolts thru bracket.
12....bolt up passenger side bracket to motor then tighten the two bottom bolts on each side.
13..check all bolt on on mounts & passenger side bracket are tight then refit Air Con compressor/belt radiator hoses etc.Tip on how to fit throttle body spring is in the other thread. Remember its a bastard of a job,it took us a couple of hours to get the drivers side mount in so don't try it unless your mechanically minded as you will surely run into problems.Cheers.

after reading this thread and your not 100% shore you can do it take it to your local mechanic, myself i would at least give it a try before taking it to some one that way you can say you gave it a go, if you follow the procedure step by step you will prob find its easier then you thought
